Getting started
Import your customers from MoeGo
Move your clients and pets from MoeGo into Doorstep with a spreadsheet export and a guided import.
Updated July 5, 2026
If you are moving to Doorstep from MoeGo, you can bring your clients and their pets with you. You export a spreadsheet from MoeGo, upload it to Doorstep, review what will be imported, and then confirm. Doorstep checks everything before it changes anything, so there are no surprises.
Step 1: Export your customers from MoeGo
In MoeGo, open Reports and choose Customer Export. This gives you a spreadsheet file (a CSV) with your clients and their pets.
Save the file somewhere you can find it. You do not need to open or edit it.
Step 2: Upload the file to Doorstep
In Doorstep, go to the import page and choose your exported file. A few things to know:
- The file must be under 5 MB.
- It can hold up to 10,000 rows.
- Each customer needs a first name, last name, and phone number. Rows missing any of these are skipped.
If one of your customers has several pets, that is fine. MoeGo lists each pet on its own row and repeats the customer’s details. Doorstep understands this and treats them as one customer with several pets.
Step 3: Review the preview report
Before anything is saved, Doorstep reads your file and shows you a preview of exactly what will happen. Nothing is imported yet at this stage.
The preview tells you:
- New customers — how many customers will be added.
- Existing customers — how many are already in Doorstep, matched by phone number. These are left as they are.
- New pets — how many pets will be added.
- Rows with problems — any rows Doorstep could not fully read, listed with the reason.
Rows with problems are skipped, not blocking. The rest of your file still imports. Review the list, and if you want to fix something, correct it in MoeGo, export again, and re-upload.
Common problems and how to fix them
| Problem | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Missing required field | A row is missing a first name, last name, or phone number | Add the missing detail in MoeGo and export again |
| Invalid phone number | The phone number could not be read as a real number | Correct the phone number in MoeGo |
| Duplicate in file | The same phone number appears with a different name in the file | Check which name is correct and fix the other row in MoeGo |
| Invalid weight | A pet’s weight is not a number | The pet is still imported, just without a weight; add it later if you like |
| Invalid birthday | A pet’s birthday could not be read as a date | The pet is still imported, just without a birthday; add it later if you like |
The first three problems cause the row to be skipped. The last two only drop that one detail — the pet is still imported.
Step 4: Confirm the import
When the preview looks right, confirm to run the import. Doorstep then:
- Adds every new customer and pet.
- Skips any customer whose phone number is already in Doorstep, so you never get duplicates. Existing customers are left exactly as they are — Doorstep does not merge or overwrite them.
Because Doorstep matches on phone number, it is safe to run the import again if something went wrong partway through. Customers already added are simply skipped the second time.
Where to go next
- Set up your account if you have not finished the setup wizard.
- Embed the booking widget on your site so your imported customers can book online.
